Coachella 2012 – Hitting on (almost) all levels

As most of you loyal readers know, Coachella 2012 lineup dropped via facebook yesterday evening.  There will surely be more to come on that subject however I wanted to give you all my first reaction

1. Yes, the lineup looks amazing, another great job of getting the majority of todays hot acts to share the desert in indio

2. Headliner Issues:

Dre and Snoop? YES PLEASE

Radiohead – they are great live and will surely put on an amazing show BUT they headlined 2 years ago and it feels like more of the same.  Here is to hoping the set is heavy TKOL to mix it up a bit. All in all, they are always deserving to be headlining at Coachella so really cant complain too much.

Black Keys – maybe it was all the talk (like every year) of Daftpunk but Black Keys does not excite me as the Friday Headliner.  It’s a solid pick coming off the success of Brothers and El Camino but it leaves me wanting more.

3. Biggest Snub:

I was really hoping to catch a 3:30 Saturday set of Washed Out. Even better would be hearing them play through the sunset but this dude has to be realistic and knows they are not yet at that level.  I thought they had one of the most interesting albums of last year (anyone who follows my spotify can attest to this as I can’t stop listening to them)

Here is to pretending….

feels like the right thing to put down to say goodbye to 2k11. and thank you. been as solid a year as anyone coulda hoped for, and more than this dude woulda asked for.

so ring this one out with all you got left in ya, and get prepped for what’s sure to be some madness in 12.
