but took a listen through the list of tracks up for contention and ended up landing here.
so guess the lesson is that things don’t always go the way you think they’re gonna? and hey, best part is I got another good one for ya comin up after too.
good one for rolling through a sunny day on though. that much is for sure:

so then this one is dedicated to you if you’re doing something more exciting than this dude tonight.
actually, got a couple going out to you. but this is how we start it off.
this dude’s been looking for a reason to put up something viceroy. add that to hunter hunted? and when the chorus hits, you’ll know you came to the right place.
Sunday night, this dude had the esteemed pleasure of witnessing one of the better shows I’ve seen in a long bit of a while. And it wasn’t one I went in to hyped beyond belief. That’s just honesty.
But sometimes its the sights that are least expected that become the true spectacle.
The matchup of Alpine and Empire of the Sun at 930 Club here in our nation’s fair capitol was nothing short of immaculate.
.
Alpine:
Melbourne-based lady pairing of Phoebe Baker and Lou James front this sextet of pure dreamy, guitar-driven love. From the kick, they set the mood that every opener hopes for. And the crowd couldn’t have been more down.
The band hasn’t gotten a ton of traction here in the states. Yet. But with their can’t miss sugary electro-pop vibe, recent iTunes’ Australian Alternative Album of the Year victory, requisite tiny desk concert appearance, and national tour with EotS, the ladies of Oz are set to fly.
.
alpine – gasoline
.
Empire of the Sun:
Then the big boys took the stage. And I gotta be real clear here. They killed.
Plain and simple.
From the moment Luke and Nick hit the hardboards, the room caught a heart pumping, face melting, intergalactic type of fire rarely experienced in this stuffy starched-out city.
The set kicked off with a series of tracks off the band’s recent Ice On The Dune release that’s seen the group skyrocket to the top of Billboard’s Club chart, blogs the world around, and just about any dancefloor you may have found yourself on this summer.
Throughout the hour and a half set, the kings of aussieland dropped hit after hit after hit. But beyond the bangers was the vibe of pure euphoria that seemed to fill the place from start to finish. It was the type of show that reminds you exactly why you love 930 club – what makes it one of the most special places to see a show that this dude’s ever been to. The band felt so close, such a part of the party. And everyone in the room was on one page dancing to one endless beat that lasted the whole set.
Bottom line, if you ever ever ever have the opportunity to see this band… you’ve got nothing better you should be doing.

-final note-
following the devastating and untimely death of 930’s rock, josh burdette, on sunday night, the band took the stage monday night dedicating their set to his memory. rip josh. thanks for always keeping it safe and fun in there.
